Mission Montessori Preschool and Kindergarten was created in 1998 by Kristen Hunt-Jones.
Miss Kristen is a licensed Montessori and Early Childhood Educator.  She has training in Special Needs (DIR/Floortime) and Infant/Toddler.  She holds  a Saint Nicholas (Traditional) and has additional training in Progressive Montessori.  Miss Kristen is also a Licensed Kindermusik Educator and has training in both PATHs (Providing Alternative Thinking Strategies) and Samonas Music Therapy.

She now works side by side with Lori Webber, Amanda Ravenhill, Elza Hunfeld and Alicia Crawford.  Montessori Trained Early Childhood Educators.

Our unique, progressive and
well-balanced form of Montessori teaching has been recieved so well by the community of Mission, we have expanded the program and have over 160 students per year participate.
Our program features traditional Montessori materials and activities alongside a Progressive philosphy, weekly Kindermusik program, PATHs, ABC's/123's and phonics/whole language programs.   We do monthly Culture Studies and learn about the world we live in from a global perspective.  We also use a healthy Early Childhood Education approach.  We pride ourselves on teaching with a "whole child" perspective and do not follow any hard and fast rules when it comes to educating children.

Every child is different, every child is unique, and what applies for one may not be the same for another.  We keep accurate records of what your child is doing at school and base the academics on individual skill and interest.

We complete report cards twice yearly and have parent/teacher conferences to keep you updated on your child's progress. We work hard to establish open communication with every parent.  Setting goals for success at school is important and we take into account every child's family expectations and wishes, as well as the child's own interests and abilities.

We go on field trips, have special events like a winter concert, year end picnic celebrations and much more.

Our programming utilizes the  Montessori materials and philosophy and we have fully stocked shelves with exciting practical life, sensorial, math, language, geography and science activities.  We also have a healthy ECE approach offering dramatic play in the housekeeping center, fun and games, music experiences, arts and crafts, computer, listening center and so much more!

Every child takes an active role in the maintenance of the classroom and helps with tidying, caring for plants, learning how to prepare foods, serving themselves at snack and keeping our playground and garden beautiful.

We utilize a variety of teaching resources including the "Fun Family Phonics" program, sign language, culture and language studies and exciting science and nature experiences.

Our classes are flexible ranging from 1-5 days per week.  Our classes are 3 hours long and fees include the wonderful weekly Kindermusik program and learning materials such as journals and workbooks! Your child will create a memory scrapbook of their year at preschool/kindergarten for you to keep forever.

Join Miss Kristen, Miss Lori, Miss Amanda, Miss Alicia & Miss Elza for an exciting learning experience with a common sense approach.  We look forward to meeting you and working with your family!
