I joined the team at Mission Montessori Preschool in September 2008 and I have had such a great time working with and getting to know the families in Mission!  I teach the preschool program at the Ferndale Campus as well as taking on the role of office manager for both locations. I am ECE Certified and have training in Montessori.  I also have a background in early childhood fine arts and love to implement that into the program at Mission Montessori. My name is Elza Hunfeld, I am a qualified Early Childhood Educator, and I also have my Diploma in specializing with children with special needs. I am currently continuing my studies to receive my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Child and Youth Care; this has so far been a rewarding experience. I have increased my knowledge on children and family development. Throughout my teenage years I had a natural connection with children. I knew that I was meant to work with children and families. I started full time studies at the University of the Fraser Valley in January 2008. I really enjoyed the early childhood education program and gained many great experiences that have set an excellent foundation for my future career. I have learned about the Montessori Model in school and enjoy Mission Montessori’s practices in their progressive approach. During my schooling I was Mission Montessori’s practicum student, I enjoyed working with the staff and families. My interests include art, reading, music and hiking and I love to incorporate these interests into my practice as an Early Childhood Educator. I look forward to working with you and your children in the new school year.
