Little Ladybugs Academy Featuring Kindermusik
is run by Kristen Hunt-Jones, founder and director of Mission Montessori Preschool and Kindergarten. Miss Kristen teaches larger group lessons to each of the preschool classes once per week included in the Mission Montessori Preschool curriculum. Kindermusik is a wonderful program designed to foster a love of music for children ages 0-7 years old.
It has helped millions of children worldwide explore, express and discover.
MUSIC RESEARCH
Kindermusik helps your child develop early literacy and language skills, acquire reasoning and early math skills, increase self control and cultivate a life long love of music. There is sound research behind the Kindermusik philosophy… The “No Child Left Behind Act” of 2002 states, “Studying music encourages self-discipline and diligence traits that carry over into math, science, foreign languages, civics and government, arts, history and geography. Research supports that music helps prepare the mind for specific disciplines of learning, skills learned through music carry over into study skills, communication skills, cognitive skills and abstract reasoning skills useful to all parts of life, according to a 1997 neurological study.
YOUNG CHILDREN
Don Campbell, author of the Mozart Effect, traced neurological development through childhood and found that prior to a major spurt of neural integration in the brain during the early years, learning occurs through movement, and quick emotional associations. For example, by age 2, the brain has begun to fuse with the body via marching, dancing and developing a sense of physical rhythm. The more music children are exposed to at an early age, the more deeply this stage of neural coding will assist them throughout their lives.
PRIVATE CLASSES
Are available from “Baby Sign and Sing” (ages 0-6 months) to preschool and school age programs . Benefits of private sessions include smaller groups, more focused learning, a variety of age appropriate music classes and more parental interaction.
SUMMER KINDERMUSIK CLASSES for children aged 2-6 starting July 12th, 2010. Classes will run at the Ferndale Campus of Mission Montessori Preschool every
Monday and Wednesday from 1:00-1:45. 16 sessions. SORRY-FULLFOR THIS SEASON.
BABY SIGN AND SING is scheduled to begin September 14th at the Mission Leisure Centre. Classes will run every Tuesday from 2:45-3:30 PM for 6 weeks. Please email Kristen a littleladybugs@live.ca for more information.
