Amanda Ravenhill is the Head Teacher at the Dewdney Trunk Campus.
Hello : ) my name is Amanda Ravenhill. I have been working with children in the Early Childhood Education field for the past 2 years. I also have training to work with infants, toddlers and children with special needs. Before working as an ECE I coached children between the ages 3 and 11 in soccer for Mission Soccer Club as well as volunteered my time in childcare centers. My hobbies are do-it yourself projects, anything that involves creativity and trying new things. I believe that there is too much knowledge in this world to ever know in a lifetime, but I’m determined to try. I also enjoy running, yoga and spending all my time outside when possible. I believe that children are each a unique burst of life and I love working with such inquisitive minds. Working with children keeps the atmosphere in a learning environment fun and open. I reflect my philosophy as a childhood educator from children; their constant thirst to learn from the world around them is an inspiration and I believe that it is my job as an educator to take that thirst encourage and foster it. By introducing culture, math, phonics, reading, writing, art, music and other areas of curriculum in interesting interactive ways children become naturally eager to learn. I am equally excited to work with parents and answer any questions you may have… or even if you don’t have questions, feel free to talk to me at any time!
Kristen Hunt-Jones is Directress at the Dewdney Trunk Campus.
Miss Kristen holds her St. Nicholas Montessori (traditonal) Diploma as well as her ECE Certificate. She has been teaching Montessori for over 21 years and has additional training in Special Needs (specifically DIR/Floortime for children with Autism and Sign Language), Infant/Toddler, Samonas Music Therapy and Progressive Montessori. She is also a Licensed Kindermusik Educator. Miss Kristen directs the program at Dewdney Trunk and also teaches the weekly Kindermusik Program at both locations of Mission Montessori Preschool. As the founder and director of the school, Miss Kristen is our longest standing staff member with 12 years at the school!
Alicia Crawford is the Assistant Teacher at the Dewdney Trunk Campus.
Hello! My name is Alicia Crawford. I have been a licensed Early Childhood Educator as well as an Infant/Toddler Educator since graduating from Langara College in 2006. Over the past several years I have had the opportunity to gain experience at a variety of childcare settings throughout the Vancouver area including; preschool, daycare, out of school care and KinderCare. I am also “Mommy” to a 2 ½ year old daughter, so I have taken on a parent’s perspective and have faced the many joys and challenges of parenting. These experiences have helped me build character as well as shape my own philosophies as an educator. I am a new resident to Mission, and I am very excited to be part of the community, as well as the teaching team here at Mission Montessori Preschool. I look forward to meeting and working with all of the families here. I will strive to provide a positive, nurturing environment that will support each individuals needs as we grow and learn together.
